This positive stereoscopic photograph of the planet Mars was taken at Yerkes observatory (WI) in the United States. The photographer is Edward Emerson Barnard (1857-1923) a talented American astronomer who won several distinctions for his work. A star even bears his name. The plate is protected by soft black tape and inscriptions in French run along it. 72 x 152mm
