Exceptional Electrostatic Generating Machine by Jesse Ramsden.
Complete with shipping box and accessories. The box was also used as as a stand for the machine, held in place by 2 ties.
Jesse Ramsden (Salterhebble 1735 - Brighton 1800), English optician, precision instrument maker, built an electrostatic generating machine with a glass disc. The disc was pressed between 4 leather cushions stuffed with crinolin, and turns between 2 brass horse-show shaped brass tubes that have a comb of metal teeth.
